A Problem You’ve Already Faced
- The compressor “blows back” on shutdown — air from the receiver returns through the block every time it stops: the piston restarts under full load, the motor overheats and draws excessive current at start-up.
- The old valve no longer seals — wear on the ball or seat causes slow pressure loss in the receiver even when the compressor is off.
- Wrong size ordered — confused the tube diameter (19 mm vs. 16 mm) or the thread type (female vs. male) — the part didn’t fit.
- The compressor won’t hold pressure — every start-up takes longer to reach working pressure because the receiver bled down through the defective valve.
- Hard motor starting — the motor “struggles” at every cycle; this is a loaded start — the classic symptom of a failed check valve.
A defective check valve doesn’t stop the compressor immediately — it degrades it silently: frequent loaded starts, premature motor and block wear, rising energy consumption.
What Is the 1/2″ x 19 mm Check Valve
The compressor check valve for 3 kW units is an automatic sealing element designed for one-way passage of compressed air from the piston block into the receiver. This version with a 1/2″ connection thread and a 19 mm inlet is engineered specifically to provide high flow capacity at pressures up to 10 bar, preventing reverse airflow and easing electric motor start-up.
Operating principle: a stainless steel ball is held against a brass seat by a spring. When block pressure exceeds receiver pressure — the ball lifts and air flows freely. At shutdown, block pressure drops, the spring pushes the ball onto the seat and reverse flow is blocked.
Why this part is critical:
- Without a working check valve the motor always starts under full load — inrush current is 3–5× the rated value
- The receiver bleeds down in standby — the compressor cycles more often than necessary
- On compressors with an unloading pressure switch — the check valve is part of the soft-start protection circuit

💡 Expert tip: when replacing the check valve, always inspect the unloading tube running to the pressure switch — if it is clogged with carbon deposits, even a new valve will not ensure easy motor start-up. Tightening torque for the valve in the receiver: 25–35 N·m. Do not over-tighten — brass thread strips under excessive force.
Key Advantages of This Model
Optimised 19 mm bore: the 19 mm inlet minimises resistance to airflow — critical for stable operation of 3 kW piston blocks. This prevents excessive heating of the discharge line.
Sealed at 10 bar: the valve has passed factory pressure-holding tests, guaranteeing no leakage from the receiver into the compression chamber during equipment standby.
Compatible Compressors
| Compressor model | Block | Power | Compatibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remeza СБ4/С-50.LB30 | LB30 | 2.2 kW | ✅ Compatible |
| Remeza СБ4/С-100.LB30A | LB30A | 2.2 kW | ✅ Compatible |
| MZB V-0.25/8 | — | 2.2 kW | ✅ Compatible |
| MZB FL-40 | — | 1.5 kW | ✅ Compatible |
| Universal piston compressors | any | up to 3 kW | ✅ Universal |
⚠️ Important: for compressors rated above 3 kW (LB40, LB50) a larger check valve is required — 3/4″ or 1″ thread. Measure the receiver port before ordering.
This Configuration (1/2″ × 19 mm) Is Essential For:
- Piston compressors with LB30 / LB30A block rated 2.2–3 kW
- MZB piston compressors on single-phase 220V supply
- Any piston compressor with a 19 mm discharge tube and 1/2″ BSP receiver port

Expert Opinion
“When selecting a valve with a 1/2″ thread and a 19 mm inlet it is important to verify the quality of the internal sealing material. At 10 bar and 3 kW, the discharge air can be quite hot. This model complies with ISO 9001 international standards. My advice: when replacing the valve, always check the condition of the unloading tube running to the pressure switch — if it is clogged with carbon deposits, even a new valve will not ensure easy motor start-up.”

FAQ
❓ Why does the spec say 1/2″ but measuring the thread gives approximately 21 mm?
This is a feature of BSP (British Standard Pipe) thread. The 1/2″ designation refers to the nominal bore of the pipe, while the actual outside diameter of the thread is approximately 20.9–21.3 mm. This is standard for BSP parallel thread per ISO 228-1 — it is not an error.
❓ Can this valve be used at 12–15 bar?
Not recommended. This model is optimised for the standard working pressure of 10 bar. Use at higher pressure may cause accelerated wear of the sealing gasket and spring failure. For 12–16 bar systems, choose a valve with the appropriate pressure rating — consult the Acvatron SRL engineer.
❓ What if the 19 mm tube won’t fit into the valve?
Make sure you are using the correct compression ring (cone fitting). If your tube has a different diameter, a suitable adapter fitting may be required. The 19 mm inlet is the most common size for 3 kW units — if the measurement doesn’t match, contact our engineer to identify the correct size.
Take the Next Step Right Now
A faulty valve caught in time costs a few euros. Caught after the motor has failed — several hundred. Don’t delay the replacement.
